ServiceNow Antivirus Scanning

ServiceNow has a built-in antivirus scanner that scans the attachment table for viruses and other harmful items. Antivirus scanning moves the file to quarantine and marks the file as unavailable if an infection is found.

Email Security

ServiceNow provides several layers of protection for email communications:

  • ServiceNow uses antivirus scanning to check if any incoming email contains a harmful attachment.
  • ServiceNow allows send and receive email using opportunistic TLS. This means the initial handshake creates the conditions necessary to exchange encryption keys and establish an encrypted tunnel that ensures email is sent safely and securely. However, if the target server does not support TLS, the server will use an unencrypted channel to deliver the email.
  • ServiceNow provides the ability to filter domains that you might find suspicious.

You can learn more about how to filter domains and emails in the ServiceNow documentation.
